WAUSAU - Tired of all the snow? A visit to a local fine art gallery could exist the cure for the wintertime dejection.

Eye for the Visual Arts

The 27th annual Midwest Seasons exhibition at the Center for the Visual Arts in downtown Wausau is on view through April one. Formerly known as Midwest Winter, the signature exhibit of the CVA, the name was changed in 2009 to contain a broader range of subjects.

"We are really excited about it this twelvemonth," said executive director Rose DeHut. "It'due south an exhibit that's fresh and vibrant and open to artists from all over."

More than xxx local and regional artists are exhibiting their works in the juried show ranging from oil and watercolor painting and photography to jewelry, glass and mixed media.

Woodson Art Museum

An eight-human foot snow sculpture of an illuminated lampshade greets visitors to the Woodson Fine art Museum in Wausau in honor of Tiffany Glass: Painting with Colour and Light. The exhibit of art drinking glass lampshades and windows designed past the Tiffany Studios and organized by the Neustadt Drove of Tiffany Glass, Queens, New York, runs through February. 26.

"Information technology'southward a perfect opportunity to come in and warm up in the gallery this winter," said communications director Amy Beck. "The gallery lighting has been lowered and then the dissimilarity in the glass is especially inviting. A secondary exhibit, "Victorian Fine art Glass Baskets," features pieces from the collection of Alice Richardson Yawkey. The blown glass baskets produced in the U.South. betwixt 1880 and 1905 are from the era of the Industrial Revolution.

The next exhibit at the gallery is Emerging Artists, coming March 7 to March 26, which will showcase the talents of students in grades vii to 12 in the Stevens Point area.

New Visions Gallery

Located in the lobby of the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, New Visions Gallery has been hosting works by local, regional and national artists since 1975. The gallery in the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts in Spencer presents Insightful Moments, capturing farm life in rural Wisconsin by photographer Barb Lassa of Wisconsin Rapids.
